Ndiginus jewelry designs are a feast for the eye. All materials are selected by designer Rae Vavra, whom has been creating and studying beadwork from a young age, and has continued this passion into adult life; creating ‘one of kind pieces of wearable art.’Rae creates all designs and currently works with a few choice people helping with hand made details. Some pieces are made by more than one person, as the designs are complex in nature. Each piece starts with a base of hand beading, knotted cord between beads, peyote stitch, and or macrame’ knotting,combined with wire or leather wrapping. After the base design is created with a mixture of glass, semi-precious stones , metal beads and sequins, the finishing touch’s must be applied. Many of the styles arethen completed by adding leather and suede backings , layers of chains and beads giving each design asignature touch. Ndiginus supports the reality of using local craftsmen and Artisans’, each having a unique approach to their style which is passed down from generation to generation.
